Sixer's beta testing
Well i kind of feel priviledged because i got my first ever beta
testing invite (from an Indian dot com), thanks to sites such as these - along
with indiagram
and a few others, "beta" is now a known word with indians online.
Sixer - run by a hyderabad based company Sixer claims to be "world’s first social networking site for cricket" fans .I must clearly state that my reasons of joining this site had nothing to do with cricket but actually understanding how well would these guy be able to link cricket with networking.
Well, though the site offers connecting to people with interests ranging from technology, career, financing to even movies, its largely a place for cricket lovers only.
Things you can do at Sixer’s private beta site range from
anything like tagging articles to viewing them by "Runs" - i.e. number of times
article is read, Upload and view pictures uploaded by the community, join
players fan clubs from your metro (Eg: a sachin tendulkar club from delhi -
though i dont see a reason of linking it to metros), Create and customize your
page and so on...lets say regular networking features. But according to me what
seems to be the best add- on to the site is the ability for the user to add his
team names to his homepage. Users can add scores, wins & pictures, grounds
that the team plays on , hit points of the team and soon video uploads would
also be added to the site....which means local teams could actually podcast
their local match moments on the net!!!...now that is exciting stuff for a
cricket lover who even remotely understand internet.
Having said that , suddenly the "linking of clubs with metros"
actually make sense to me!!!....we might be looking at a scenario where local
teams would actually be seting up matches against each other online, putting up
their scores, videos online ...and so what i am talking about is the boy next
door's medium for claim to fame :)
